How an NFL week works

The NFL regular season runs for 18 weeks. Each of the 32 teams plays 17 games and has one bye week, so a typical week holds around sixteen games spread over four days. It opens with Thursday Night Football, builds to a full Sunday slate, and closes with Monday Night Football. Most Sunday games kick off at 1:00 PM Eastern, with a later window at 4:05 or 4:25 PM, and Sunday Night Football starts at 8:20 PM. Through the autumn the league also plays regular-season games abroad, which shift those kickoffs into European daytime.

Those American times land very differently elsewhere. For viewers in Türkiye, a 1:00 PM Eastern kickoff starts at 20:00 while the US is on daylight saving time and at 21:00 after the clocks change in early November; Sunday Night Football falls in the small hours of Monday morning.
