Editorial Policy

MatchCountdown is published by Recete Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. This page explains how our written content is produced, checked and corrected. For where the fixture data itself comes from and how often it refreshes, see Data Sources & Accuracy.

What we publish

Most pages on MatchCountdown are generated from sports-data feeds: every fixture, team and league page shows the official schedule as the providers publish it, converted to your time zone. Those pages make no claims beyond the data.

On top of that we publish written content. Guides answer the questions fans actually ask, such as how long a match lasts, when a league's games kick off or how a competition's format works. Event pages and match previews cover a specific occasion: a Grand Prix weekend, a Champions League matchday or a derby. All of it appears under the byline MatchCountdown Editorial, the team responsible for it.

How we write and check it

Every fact in a guide or event page, whether a date, a kick-off time, a venue, a rule or a standing, is checked against our own fixture database or an official source: the competition's or governing body's own site, its rulebook, or the clubs involved. When sources disagree, or we cannot confirm something, we leave it out rather than guess.

When we quote numbers of our own, such as how many games use a kick-off slot or how many goals come in stoppage time, they are measured from our fixture data, and we say which competitions and which period they cover.

We use AI tools to research and draft our writing. Nothing is published until it has been checked against the sources above, and every guide is reviewed and approved by an editor before it goes live.

Dates and updates

Every guide shows the date it was last updated. That date changes only when the text does: a real revision moves it, but a date is never refreshed on unchanged text. Guides tied to a season, such as kick-off times or competition dates, are reviewed when the season's facts change.

Independence

MatchCountdown shows no betting odds and gives no betting tips. Fan votes and prediction games on the site are for fun: no stakes, no payments and no prizes of monetary value, as our Terms say. Advertising and partnerships have no influence over what we write or which events we cover.

We do not buy, sell or trade links, and we do not publish paid guest posts or sponsored articles. Where a page links to a partner who pays us, the link is marked as sponsored.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, tell us through the Contact page. We check reported schedule errors against the official source and correct our record, aiming to resolve them within 24 hours. Errors in written content are fixed as soon as we can verify the correct fact, and a corrected guide shows its new update date. If a fact turns out to be unverifiable, we remove it.
