About the Major League Soccer
Major League Soccer (MLS) is the top tier of professional soccer in the United States and Canada, with 30 clubs split into Eastern and Western Conferences. Each team plays a 34-match regular season; the best overall record earns the Supporters' Shield, and the MLS Cup Playoffs end with a single final, MLS Cup. Unlike most leagues worldwide, MLS runs spring to fall: the regular season typically begins in late February and the playoffs stretch toward the end of the year.
Most fixtures land on weekends, with Saturday evening the league's signature slot and occasional midweek rounds mixed in. Clubs span four time zones, so one matchday can stagger kickoffs over several hours — an evening start on the Pacific coast means late night in the East and early morning in much of Europe. Plan for a bit over two hours per game: two 45-minute halves plus stoppage time; regular-season matches can end in a draw, but every playoff game produces a winner. Skip the time-zone math — the countdowns on this page show each kickoff in your local time.
