About the ATP Tour
The ATP Tour is the main professional circuit for men's tennis. Its season starts in Australia in early January and runs until November, built around four tiers of events: the four Grand Slams, which award the most ranking points; the nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments; and the ATP 500 and ATP 250 events that fill most weeks of the year. The season ends with the ATP Finals, a round-robin tournament for the eight best players of the year. Outside the Grand Slams, where men play best of five sets, matches are best of three.
Tennis has no fixed kickoff times. Only the first match on each court has a set start; the rest follow when the previous match ends, which is why the order of play says 'not before' rather than giving exact times. Because the tour moves from continent to continent, the same evening session can mean breakfast in Europe one week and midnight the next. The countdowns on this page are converted to your own time zone and follow the order of play as it is published.
